Last week the winners of the 2010 World Press Photo Contest were announced. While looking at those masterpieces in the winners gallery two main thoughts were wandering through my head:

  1. Too bad I have not worked hard enough to improve my little talent in order to become a photo journalist – maybe just a hundredth as good as these professsionals are.
  2. Great luck to my family and myself I have chosen the right way as a somehow talented manager and keeping photography as a passionate hobby – I don’t have to go where press photographers go.

Many of the awarded photographs are not for the faint-hearted. Be prepared.

There are some opportunities to see the pictures at exhibitions in Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria:

  • 22 February 2010 – 06 March 2010, Germany, Chemnitz, Galerie Roter Turm, Neumarkt 2
  • 07 March 2010 – 28 March 2010, Germany, Kitzingen, Daily 10.00 – 19.00, Rathaushalle, Kaiserstraße 13/15

  • 23 April 2010 – 20 June 2010, The Netherlands, Amsterdam, Visiting hours: Monday – Saturday 10.30 – 17.30, Sunday 13.00 – 17.30, Address: Oude Kerk, Oudekerksplein 23
